In January 2019, Drum agreed a deal with the Legal & General UK Build to Rent Fund to sell a purpose designed development of 324 Build to Rent (BTR) apartments at Buchanan Wharf.
Drum’s Buchanan Wharf in Glasgow is an award-winning, £500m mixed use development on the banks of the Clyde which has set new standards for urban form in Scotland and will shape the direction of expansion and regeneration of Glasgow city centre for decades to come.

Drum identified the requirement to meet the increasing demand for affordable, quality rental accommodation across Scotland and the L&G deal represented the first institutional forward funding of a build to rent development in Scotland, acting as a catalyst for significant further investment from the institutional sector.

The final building, named ‘Solasta Riverside’ consists of two 18 storey towers extending to 280,000 sq. ft including private dining space, a gym, a residents’ lounge and a games room. The residential development, which overlooks the River Clyde, also offers a 4,250 sq ft communal roof terrace and is walking distance from Glasgow Central Station and the International Financial Services District, linked by the Tradeston Bridge. Construction was completed in August 2022 and the entire development was fully let by the end of that year. Solasta Riverside was named ‘Build-to-Rent Development of the Year’ in the 2023 Scottish Property Awards.
