Candleriggs Square Consultation Begins.
The first stages of public consultation for one of Glasgow’s most important city centre development projects has begun. Drum Property Group and Stamford Property Investments have submitted three Proposal of Application Notices (PANs) to Glasgow City Council for the redevelopment of the Candleriggs Square, at the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City.
The PANs are issued in advance of the first public consultation event seeking views on the proposed redevelopment, which will take place at the City Halls, today August 29.
Candleriggs Square, bound by Hutcheson Street, Trongate, Candleriggs and Wilson Street is recognised as one of the most important development sites in the city centre. Having lain derelict for over a decade, the site has an existing planning consent for around 850,000 sq. ft. of residential, student, hotel and commercial space.
Welcoming the start of the consultation process Graeme Bone, Group Managing Director of Drum Property Group, said:
“This is an exciting opportunity to transform this neglected part of the city centre and complete the regeneration of the Merchant City.
We are committed to delivering a sensitive mixed-use development that brings together an enhanced public realm with high-quality residential accommodation and amenities, reflecting the area’s unique setting, feel and sense of community."
